Safety First:
These rules and guidelines are for your safety, and the safety of our staff. Please consider them before deciding to rent with us. We have found that by following a simple set of guidelines, everyone has fun and comes back safe.
Rental Guidelines:

When renting our Kayaks or Stand Up Paddleboards you must adhere to our rules, guidelines, and restrictions.  Waivers must be signed by everyone using our rental equipment, and minors must be signed for by a parent or legal guardian.  Each kayak is to only be used by one person, or two people if it is a tandem kayak.  All of our SUPs are for one person only.  You may not bring a child to ride with you on our paddleboards.  You may not rent our equipment at a group rate and swap more people on and off at our rates.  We do not sublease our equipment.  If you are looking to do a group event, you must discuss it with the owners or management first.

Please follow all guidelines when renting our kayaks and SUPs.  These rules and restrictions are in place for your safety, the safety of our staff, and the longevity of our equipment.  We hope that everyone can have a safe and enjoyable experience at Pinky’s Kayak Rental.

Weight Limits:

Weight limits on kayaks and paddleboards vary but are as follows.  For dedicated single sit on top kayaks the weight limit is 300 lbs.  For single/tandem versions the capacity is 380 and the dedicated tandem kayaks have a weight limit is 380 lbs for the combined weight of two people.  This is due to the product specifications of our kayaks.  Weight limits on the majority of our paddleboards are 225 pounds.  We do have 2 SUPs that have a 350 lb capacity that provide great stability and control.  All kayaks, and SUPs that are made have weight limitations.  It is very important to be honest about your weight, and not to exceed these weight limits.  If you show up for your reservation and you are over the weight limitations, you will forfeit your reservation at your expense.  So once again please make sure you do not exceed any of our limitations that are specified above or below.  This is for your safety and for the longevity and structural integrity of our kayaks.  Damage done to any kayaks due to the misuse or exceeding any limits explained will be at your expense.

Age Limits:

Age limits for kayak use are 14 years old for single kayaks, and 10 years old for tandem kayaks and must be accompanied by an adult.  Reservations and rentals will not be made for groups of minors who aren’t accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.  Schools are the exception to this rule and other written permissions apply.  Please do not make reservations for minors or groups of minors to take trips without their parents or guardians with them.

Age limits for paddleboards are 18 and over or 13 and older with an accompanying parent or guardian per teen.  You may not have a child ride on a SUP with you.  They are a one person craft.  We do not allow groups of teenagers to go out on paddleboards.  Please do not plan for paddleboarding birthday parties for your kids.  If a parent wants to go paddleboarding with their own teenager, we may allow for that, but it is based on our discretion.  Our discretion is based on the maturity of the teenager and the parent.  We also base this on how busy the lake is at the time and if it is a holiday or not.  Parents with other peoples teens may not use the paddleboards, as we need each teens parents at our office to fill out appropriate paperwork.  They must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.  Remember that Paddleboards are a single occupancy craft, and should be used based on the manufacturers recommendations.  They are not made for two people.  All of these rules and regulations are for the safety of our customers, our staff, and for the longevity of our equipment.

Transportation of Rental Equipment:

We do not allow you to rent kayaks or paddleboards and transport them yourselves.  We have specific drop off locations that we transport the kayaks to.  The trip or time limit that you choose should be the area that you stay in while renting our kayaks.  Please do not take or transport the kayaks outside of the rental area you have agreed upon.  SUPs are rented into Taylor Lake.

Fishing is not allowed from any of our Kayaks or Paddleboards.  We are not a fishing outfitter.

Alcohol consumption is not allowed on our kayaks or paddleboards.  Unfortunately a few bad apples have caused us to change our approach to this rule.

We do allow coolers on our Kayaks within a reasonable size.  A small 6 pack size cooler is fine.  They must not be full size yeti coolers or any cooler that will interfere with the normal safe operation of the craft due to its size or weight.  We do not allow coolers on Stand Up Paddleboards at all.  We do not inspect coolers, so you will be on the honor system!  So please do not over do it.

Swimming / PDFs:

Keep in mind that this is a water sport, so you should expect to get wet.  You have the potential of falling into the water so you should have the ability to swim.  PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices or Life Jackets) should be worn at all times.  In the state of Texas you need a life jacket per person on a water craft.  Please understand that our rentals are not intended to be diving or swimming platforms and your safety while on the water is your responsibility.  We understand that at some point you may be in the water for what ever reason.  Please be safe at all times by being mindful of the depth of water, conditions, and other water craft.

Most Importantly:

Most importantly if you feel like your age, physical health, or mental condition may cause any harm to yourself or our staff please do not rent from us.  We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.  Also, if for any reason we feel that your age, physical, mental condition or behavior and attitude may put yourself, your group, other people, our equipment, property or staff in jeopardy, we will not rent to you.

We are a dog friendly company and you may bring your fur friends.  Please make sure that their weight is taken into consideration.  Large dogs may need to be considered 1 person, due to size limitations of kayaks, but we won’t charge for them.  All dogs are free who are accompanied by a paying adult in a kayak.

Remember to use common sense when renting and using the kayaks.  You are responsible for them while they are in your possession.  All renters and occupants of the kayaks and paddle boards will be required to sign a waiver.  Minors will have their parents or legal guardians fill out the appropriate forms and will accompany them on their trip.
